A Big Month for Celebrations at Colony

Colony Woodstock est 1929

The month of May was jam-packed with incredible music, dancing, delicious food, a surprise May snowfall (yes, you read that right)  and SO many reasons to celebrate!

On May 11, 2019 we celebrated our 2nd anniversary!
When we opened the doors after a long hard renovation and rebranding we could never have imagined what was in store for this beautiful building and the top-notch team that keeps it running. Becoming Woodstock’s premiere music and event venue certainly came with its share of growing pains, but the diversity of entertainment and events that filled our calendar and the building this past month, have been a perfect reminder of why we said yes to this adventure:
Music events shook things up with Balkan line dancing with Max’s New Hat and their special guests The Sarma Brass Band, a storytelling dance party experience with Chris Wells & The Silver Spaceship (yes, it was as fun as it sounds) and a late night dance party hosted by Jonathan Toubin. We enjoyed Woodstock’s own Lindsay Webster and Tom Pacheco. The Meat Puppets filled the house on a rainy Monday and The Rock Academy performance allowed kids from our community a venue to showcase their budding talent with an exceptional 90’s playlist. Completing our musical calendar for the month Memphis legend Tav Falco brought his 40-years-running Panther Burns to the stage with some kickin’ rockabilly (owner Neil Howard’s favorite genre).

Nothing says “I love you Mom” better than brunch and jazz at Colony…even on a cold (yes it snowed) wet Mother’s Day where our kitchen staff ensured all was perfect and our front of the house team took special care.
And we’re so proud of our kitchen staff for another Taste of Woodstock award! Not only is this event a culinary delight but it’s an honor to be part of a business community that works together raising funds for The Woodstock Film Festival.

Although not part of our original business plan, love was in the air when we hosted a wedding and even the Woodstock Day School Prom. Now that we now see how perfect this space is for weddings and parties of all types, we are on board 100% and even added guest house rentals to complete the event venue package.

Our Monday open mic hosted by Jim from Kansas and Galaexius Quasar continues to grow and has become that cozy living room experience where you can hang out with a good beer, your guitar and friends. It’s one of those times when it just feels like the building is speaking to us and saying, “thank you”.

The month of May will always hold a special spot on the calendar and a reminder of our objective on opening day…we will continue to learn, grow, and share great experiences with our guests.

Thank you for joining us!
